The Bottom Line

The 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe Elite Travel System is a luxury stroller with a lot of great features. It’s especially portable due to its weight, one-handed folding ability, and the Click & Go system. We also love that it functions as a car seat and a stroller.

A stroller is a must-have for any parent who has young children. It allows you to enjoy long walks with your little one and gives them a place to relax while they watch the passing scenery. You’ll take a stroller with you just about everywhere, so it’s important to find one that fits your needs.

The cool thing about the Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System is that it’s more than just a stroller. It also functions as a car seat (and a handheld carrier). We’ll be taking an in-depth look at this stroller to see how it performs.

We’ll discuss how the Britax B-Agile & B-Safe fares in terms of assembly, safety, portability, comfort, maneuverability, and more. By the end of this article, you should have a good idea of whether or not this is the right stroller for your needs.

What Are the Size Requirements for the 2017 B-Agile?

Before buying a stroller or car seat (or a two-in-one like the B-Agile), you must ensure that it is appropriate for your child’s size and age range.

The stroller is for children up to the age of six. There is no minimum age range, and it can be used for newborns. It has a maximum weight capacity of 55 pounds.

Here are the stroller’s interior dimensions:

  • Seating Area Width: 11″(27.94 cm)
  • Shoulder Width: 15″ (38.1 cm)
  • Harness Slot Heights: 15 positions, 9.5”/12.5”/15” (24.13 cm/ 31.75 cm/ 38.1 cm)
  • Buckle Strap Positions: 1
  • Buckle Strap Depth: 4” (10.16 cm)

The car seat is meant for children weighing between 4 and 35 pounds. Though there is no age requirement, this is a rear-facing seat, so it is meant for children below the age of four. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children be kept in rear-facing seats at least until the age of two, although possibly up to the age of four, depending on the limits of the seat.

Here are the car seat’s interior dimensions:

  • Seat Back Compartment Height: 20”(50.8 cm)
  • Seating Area Depth: 13″(33.02 cm)
  • Seating Area Width: 8.75″(22.22 cm)
  • Shoulder Width: 10″(25.4 cm)
  • Harness Slot Heights: 5”/7”/9”/11” (12.7 cm/ 17.78 cm/ 22.86 cm/ 27.94 cm)
  • Buckle Strap Depths: 4”/6” (10.16 cm /15.24 cm)

Is the B-Agile Easy to Assemble?

One of the great things about the Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System is that almost no assembly is required. All you have to do is install the wheels onto the stroller base.

The car seat and its base come fully assembled, so all you have to do is install the base in your vehicle. You will also have to adjust the straps of the 5-point harness so that they fit your baby properly. Luckily, the harness in the car seat is a no-rethread harness, meaning you can adjust it without unhooking or rerouting the straps.

What Safety Features Does the B-Agile Have?

As its name suggests, the Britax is more than just a stroller. Therefore, we have to take into consideration the safety of both the stroller and the car seat.

Stroller

The stroller has a five-point harness that keeps kids from sliding out. The parking brake is linked, meaning you only have to press down on one pedal to lock both brakes.

The sunshade does a good job of protecting children from harmful UV rays no matter what time of day it is. It also has a peek-a-boo window so you can easily see your child. Unlike some other strollers, the peek-a-boo window on this one has a flap for you to lift. This is a great addition because sometimes the sun can go through peek-a-boo windows and hit your baby. With the flap, your baby is protected, but you can still lift it when you want to see your child.

Sun protection is essential for young children as their skin is more delicate than that of adults. In fact, 80% of UV damage to one’s eyes typically happens before age 18. That’s why it’s essential that your stroller protects your baby from the sun, and the Britax B-Agile & B-Safe does a good job of it.

Car Seat

The Britax B-Agile & B-Safe car seat is rear-facing and was built to protect a baby’s entire body. It has an energy-absorbing shell that surrounds the head, neck, and torso and helps minimize side-to-side movement and absorb crash energy to keep it away from your child.

The car seat also uses a five-point harness. This seat meets or exceeds the FMVSS 213 standards set by the National Highway Travel Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The base of the car seat is reinforced with a high-strength steel frame to keep it stabilized. It also has levels on either side so that you’ll be certain it is installed at the correct angle in your car.

The base can be secured to the vehicle seat via the LATCH system or with the vehicle’s seat belt; this is up to your preference. The car seat then locks into the base via Britax’s Click & Go technology.

The brand has a useful video about how to install the base into your vehicle.

Registration and Recalls

Registering products like strollers and car seats is a must to keep your child safe. Even though these types of products, including the Britax B-Agile & B-Safe, undergo a lot of testing, recalls can still happen. If you register your product, it’s easy for the company to reach out and let you know about recalls as well as offer any necessary replacements.

Is the 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe Portable?

Baby in a stroller in a grocery store

You will be taking your stroller with you almost everywhere, so it needs to be easy to fold up and throw in the trunk. The Britax 35 Elite is great for families on the go. It weighs 18 pounds, thus making it comparatively lightweight.

It’s easily foldable with one hand. All you have to do is push a button on the side of the stroller and then pull up on a handle found near the back of the stroller’s seat, causing the stroller to fold in half.

Once folded, the stroller can stand on its own, so you won’t have to worry about juggling it and your baby. Additionally, the B-Agile & B-Safe is surprisingly compact when folded and can fit into most trunks, even those of smaller cars.

To give you a better understanding of the stroller’s portability, here are its dimensions:

  • Unfolded Dimensions (L x W x H): 38.5″ (L) x 23″ (W) x 40.5″ (H) (97.79 cm x 148.38 cm x 102.87 cm)
  • Folded Dimensions (L x W x H): 29″ (L) x 23″ (W) x 11″ (H) (73.66 cm x 58.42 cm x 27.94 cm)

The car seat uses Britax’s Click & Go technology, making it easy to move between the car and the stroller. Basically, it locks into place on either the stroller or car seat base. There is a button just under the back rim of the car seat that you press while simultaneously pulling the seat up to remove it.

The car seat can also be used as a carrier, and Britax provided extra comfort by adding an ergonomic handle. This makes the basket comfortable to carry, whether you’re holding onto the handle or letting it rest in the crook of your arm.

However, the carrier does weigh 10 pounds. Add the weight of your baby, and it would undoubtedly get tiring to carry for long periods.

How Comfortable Is the B-Agile?

No matter how much a stroller costs, it’ll be worthless to you if your little one isn’t comfortable riding in it. The Britax B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite has what Britax calls an “infinite” recline. Basically, this stroller can be reclined almost 180 degrees. The generous range of recline makes it easy to find the perfect angle for your child to nap.

If your little one is still small enough to be using the car seat, then they’ll enjoy Britax’s Dual Comfort fabric which is supposed to keep them both cool and dry. The car seat has a removable pillow to support infants under 11 pounds. The harness also has soft comfort pads for added cushioning around the straps.

Is the 2017 B-Agile Easy to Maneuver?

A red three-wheeled stroller

One of parents’ most common complaints about strollers is that they are hard to maneuver. Often, strollers can be difficult to turn. Britax solved this problem with the B-Agile & B-Safe by using a three-wheel design instead of a four-wheel design.

Though having three wheels on a stroller makes it look a little less conventional, it does make the stroller a lot easier to move around and turn. The B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System uses a lightweight aluminum frame, making pushing and steering the stroller effortless.

This stroller also boasts all-wheel suspension, which provides a smooth, bump-free ride for your little one. Britax gave this stroller a comfortable grip, so you can enjoy the walk just as much as your baby enjoys the ride.

How Much Storage Does the Bitrax B-Agile & B-Safe Have?

We’ve been saying good things about the Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System so far, but unfortunately, it falls short when it comes to storage. There’s just not enough of it.

As you would expect, it does have a bottom basket, but it is small compared to other strollers. It may be difficult to fit both a purse and a diaper bag in this stroller. However, the basket can be accessed from all sides of the stroller, which is quite convenient.

A zippered pocket hangs from the back of the stroller, just under the handle. This could be nice for storing your phone, wallet, keys, and maybe some small snacks.

Another negative is that the stroller doesn’t have any cup holders for parents or children. It is also without trays. While it’s important to keep hot liquids away from your child, a cupholder would still be nice for drinks like water or juice for your little one.

For the price, it’s kind of sad that this system doesn’t have cup holders or a tray. However, you can buy a cup holder that attaches to the side of the car seat. This isn’t as useful if your child has grown out of the seat and is just using the stroller, but it’s an option.

Is the B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System Easy to Wash?

The Britax B-Agile & B-Safe has a removable canopy and seat cover. The company recommends against throwing these in the washing machine. Instead, you’ll want to spot clean or hand wash them and leave them to air dry.

The rest of the fabric on the stroller is supposed to be spill-resistant and easy to clean. It’s recommended that you clean it with a cloth and a mild solution of soap and water. Avoid using household cleaners and detergents and stick to mild soaps like dish soap.

You can wash the frame the same way. The wheels can be detached and washed in the sink with soap and water. Be sure to dry the frame and any metal parts of the wheels immediately after washing to prevent rust.

Because the B-Agile & B-Safe has to be hand-washed, it’s not quite as easy to clean as some other strollers or car seats on the market that have removable parts that you can throw in a washing machine.

Is the B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System a Good Value?

The Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System is an expensive stroller costing hundreds of dollars. Based on its price, it would definitely be considered a luxury stroller. If you’re going to spend so much on a stroller, then it has to be better than just okay.

The Britax B-Agile & B-Safe isn’t just a stroller, though. It’s also a rear-facing car seat and a baby carrier. This way, you get more value for your money since you won’t have to buy these separately.

Aside from that, we have hardly anything negative to say about this stroller. It has a lot of handy features, and the only area it lacks is storage. Sometimes, the saying “you get what you pay for” is true, and it seems like paying extra for something like the B-Agile gets you a safe, portable, comfortable, and maneuverable stroller.

The Final Verdict

The Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe 35 Elite Travel System costs a pretty penny, but it has a lot of great features. It can function as a car seat, handheld carrier, or stroller.

It’s super easy to convert between each of the Elite Travel System’s functions because of Britax’s Click & Go technology. The car seat clicks into place and can be removed with the press of a button.

The stroller is very portable and weighs only 18 pounds. It’s easy to fold in half with just one hand and is compact enough to fit in just about any trunk.

The stroller is easy to maneuver for everyday use thanks to its three-wheel configuration. Children will also enjoy a smooth ride because of the all-wheel suspension.

Both the car seat and stroller are pretty comfortable. The car seat has removable cushioning for infants, and the stroller seat can be reclined to nearly 180 degrees for naps on the go.

The one major downfall of the B-Agile & B-Safe is the lack of storage. The basket is on the smaller side, and there are no cup holders whatsoever.

Still, the Britax 2017 B-Agile & B-Safe has a lot of great features, and we love that it can be used as both a car seat and a stroller. Overall, we would give it a 4.5/5 rating. It’s expensive, but it functions well, is easy to fold up, has great maneuverability, and is comfortable for children to ride in and for parents to carry.

Though we think the Britax B-Agile is a pretty great stroller, we understand that it may not be what you’re looking for. Therefore, we’ve created a list of the best 10 luxury strollers so that you can find the perfect one for you and your baby.
